ABOUT BHUJOHARRY COLLEGE
Founded in 1924, in Port Louis, Bhujoharry College was open to students and teachers of all communities. It struggled to become a stable educational institution whilst several other colleges had had to close down due to financial constraints although some of them were subsidized by the government.
The hey-day of Bhujoharry College came with the appointment of Alex Bhujoharry at the head of the school. An intelligent man of character, he knew how to galvanize teachers and students to bring out the best in them in every field of education. He even went so far as to carry out very large classes personally in history and literature with the help of loudspeakers before normal classes started in the morning. In fact, he had placed loudspeakers in every classroom to communicate with the whole college when occasions demanded. He was ahead of his time as far as the use of technology was concerned.
